Same holds good for Shruti for whom a one night stand is, well, just a one night stand.

Shraddha knows what she wants from her career and sticks on to that as her first love. Shazahn as a cute girl in her early 20s behaves like one in her casual avtar. Also, Omi Vaidya's 'till death do us apart' character is the kind of romantic which may be a rarity but still possible.Įven women here are unpretentious and know what they want and are doing. Emraan Hashmi's flirt character which tries to hop in from one female to another regardless of their age isn't surprising either. Ajay Devgn going through a mid-life crisis and falling for his much junior office colleague could well be the story of many a men folk in their late 30s. And even when it does for those few moments, the dramatic moments are gripping enough to hold your attention.Ĭharacters belong to the kind that one can relate to. Really, right from the time the opening credits start rolling till the last frame comes up on screen, a smile seldom leaves you. It is these real-life situations that make 'Dil Toh Bachcha Hai Ji' a smile through film where audience gets into a feel-good zone for those two hours. Well, his prophecy has indeed come true with 'Dil Toh Baccha Hai' indeed reminding audience of the cinema of yore where films were made in and around real-life situations. Very hummable.A couple of years back Amitabh Bachchan had commented that if there was one film maker who had the potential to carry forward the legacy of Hrishikesh Mukherjee and Basu Chatterjee, it could be Madhur Bhandarkar. Check out his melodious ditty, Abhi kuch dino se, which forms the leitmotif of the film. Nevertheless, there's enough mood and attitude in the film to make for a pleasant viewing. So where's the glitch? First, the love tangle gets repetitive the length is a bit too long the humour missing in many places and the Madhur make-over as a comedy maestro somewhat half-hearted. While Shazahn is bubbly and sweet, Shruti is cold and calculating, Shraddha is outrageously exploitative and Tisca is mature and moody. The girls too comfortably slip into their respective shoes, playing heartbreakers to the hilt. With Omi Vaidya, you know what's there to smile about: the guy's boyish innocence and his never-say-die zeal which, as in 3 Idiots, is totally misplaced again. Emraan's dil dosti story stands out for its gleeful dirty rotten scoundrel act and for the sheer dignity that Tisca Chopra adds to the predator woman cameo. The actor does look visibly uncomfortable with all that talk of virginity and when-did-you-lose-it business and actually brings out the guffaws when he breaks into a '70s ballad at a yuppie party. The highpoint of Ajay Devgn's romance is Ajay Devgn of course. For Dil To Baccha Hai Ji may have its heart in the right place but the tone is a bit tenuous and the comedy only intermittently breezy.Įach of the three love tracks have their pros and cons. He attempts a switch-over from serious, hard-hitting cinema that chooses to expose the underbelly of society to a light-hearted look at the affairs of the heart.

Movie Review: Madhur Bhandarkar tries to change tracks. Will the three guys live happily ever after? Naren's lost his heart to his twenty-something secretarial intern (Shazahn) despite being a divorcee on the wrong side of forty.Ībhay is happy to play toy boy to rich and bored housewife, Tisca Chopra until he meets her free-spirited daughter, Shruti Haasan, while Milind Kelkar is willing to do anything for wannabe actor, Shraddha Das, even if it means spending his life's savings for a shrewd climber. They may be roomies but the three of them have diametrically opposed love stories. Story: Naren (Ajay Devgn), Abhay (Emraan Hashmi) and Milind (Omi Vaidya) need to add some spark to their love life.
